What are your qualifications to teach me guitar?
In general, there are no requirements when it comes to teaching someone to play guitar. No license or credentials are required to teach in a music store for instance.
But here are my qualifications.
I have a Master of Music Degree in Guitar Performance from Ball State University. I have taught guitar at two universities and have been teaching people to play guitar since 1974.
During my university years, I helped approximately two thousand students learn to play. Some of my previous students are now music teachers and professional guitarists.
Over the years I have played in countless live shows, recording studio sessions, album demos and radio commercials. I still perform in public almost every week at a local outlet.
Importantly, my students really seem to enjoy my passion for teaching and the material they learn.
These courses are built on almost 50 years of teaching students of all ages, skills and abilities. You can truly benefit from my experience by signing up today!
Do I have to read music to take one of these courses?
You do not have to read music to take these courses. Our lessons are presented in music notation and tablature. Very soon they will include recordings for you to practice with.
There is one exception. “Reading Music for Guitar” is all about learning to read. And it’s not hard! These lessons are effective and EASY to learn! I recommend this course for everyone who doesn’t already read!
Whether you’ve been playing for years or are just starting to play, learning to read offers many benefits. It might take about ten weeks of your time, but you will gain knowledge that you will use for as long as you play!
